Prepare for ATAR with a visual teacher

Australian Tertiary Admission Rank: every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.

The exam

What is ATAR?

ATAR is the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank, a university entrance exam (Australia). Not an examination itself but a rank calculated by each state's tertiary admissions centre from scaled Year 12 results such as the HSC, VCE, QCE, WACE and SACE. Results in each subject are scaled to account for differences in cohort strength, then aggregated from a set number of subjects, with English typically required. The rank positions a student relative to their age cohort and universities set course cut-offs against it.

Who takes it: Year 12 students across Australia who want to apply for university places, since most undergraduate offers are ranked using this number.

What it tests

ATAR subjects and sections

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Languages
  • Arts and Technology studies

Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.

How to prepare

Studying for ATAR, step by step

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Scaling rewards performance relative to the cohort within each subject, so choose subjects you can do well in rather than guessing which scale up.

  2. 02

    Practise

Because only a set number of subjects count, identify your likely contributors mid-year and protect their assessment marks carefully.

  3. 03

    Avoid the traps

Check the admissions centre's guide for your state; adjustment factors and subject bonuses differ and can change your effective rank.

  4. 04

    Ask, then watch

Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.

  5. 05

    Interrupt and check

Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.

  6. 06

    Your papers

Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.

Ask it anything

Questions ATAR students ask

  • Explain how subject scaling affects my ATAR.
  • Which subjects should I focus on for a competitive rank?
  • Teach me how to interpret my mid-year results for ATAR planning.

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for ATAR?

Yes. Ask any topic from the ATAR syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Scaling rewards performance relative to the cohort within each subject, so choose subjects you can do well in rather than guessing which scale up.

Can I use my own ATAR past papers and notes?

Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. Test Lab adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.

Does it teach in the language I study ATAR in?

LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
