Common Law Admission Test: every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.
The exam
What is CLAT?
CLAT is the Common Law Admission Test, a university entrance exam (India). Conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities as a pen-and-paper test. The undergraduate paper presents passages followed by multiple-choice questions in English, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques, with negative marking. Legal reasoning questions give a principle and facts and ask for application, requiring no prior law study. The postgraduate paper focuses on constitutional law and other core subjects. Ranks are used for counselling across participating universities.
Who takes it: Class 12 students and graduates seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes at the National Law Universities and other law schools in India.
What it tests
CLAT subjects and sections
- English Language
- Current Affairs and General Knowledge
- Legal Reasoning
- Logical Reasoning
- Quantitative Techniques
Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.
How to prepare
Studying for CLAT, step by step
01
Prioritise
Every section is passage-based, so reading speed with comprehension is the single skill to build daily through editorials and long-form articles.
02
Practise
Legal reasoning rewards applying the given principle strictly, even when it conflicts with what you believe the law actually says.
03
Avoid the traps
Current affairs questions come from passages on recent events; follow news monthly and note the context behind each major story.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.
