The exam
What is Suneung (CSAT)?
Suneung (CSAT) is the College Scholastic Ability Test (Daehak Suhak Neungryeok Siheom), a university entrance exam (South Korea). A single-day national examination managed by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, with multiple-choice and short-answer questions across Korean, mathematics, English, Korean history and elective subjects. English and Korean history are graded against fixed standards, while other subjects are reported relative to all test-takers. Mathematics and Korean include optional sections. Universities combine the result with school records, essays and interviews depending on the admission track.
Who takes it: Final-year high school students and graduates in South Korea applying to universities, where the score is central to regular admissions.

How to prepare
Studying for Suneung (CSAT), step by step
01
Prioritise
Korean reading passages are long and dense, so practise timed non-fiction reading daily and learn the common question patterns.
02
Practise
Mathematics rewards accuracy on the few demanding items; secure the standard questions perfectly before chasing the killer problems.
03
Avoid the traps
Mock examinations run by the authorities during the year are the most faithful practice; analyse each one by question type rather than total score.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.
