Prepare for TOEFL with a visual teacher

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT): every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.

The exam

What is TOEFL?

TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT), a language proficiency exam (Worldwide). A computer-delivered academic English test from ETS, taken at a test centre or at home, with sections for reading, listening, speaking and writing. Speaking responses are recorded and writing tasks are typed, then scored by a mix of trained raters and automated scoring. The format is revised from time to time, with new task types and adaptive elements added in recent revisions. It rewards academic vocabulary and integrated skills.

Who takes it: Non-native English speakers applying to universities, mostly in North America, or needing proof of academic English for visas, scholarships and employers.

What it tests

TOEFL subjects and sections

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Writing

Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.

How to prepare

Studying for TOEFL, step by step

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Integrated tasks ask you to read, listen and then speak or write, so practise note-taking that captures the lecture's response to the reading.

  2. 02

    Practise

Speaking is scored for clarity and organisation, not accent; rehearse templates for the common prompts until the structure comes automatically.

  3. 03

    Avoid the traps

Academic vocabulary from lecture-style listening is the biggest gain area for many learners; study word families, not single definitions.

  4. 04

    Ask, then watch

Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.

  5. 05

    Interrupt and check

Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.

  6. 06

    Your papers

Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.

Ask it anything

Questions TOEFL students ask

  • How do I organise an integrated writing response?
  • Teach me transition phrases for the speaking tasks.
  • Explain how to take notes during a long lecture.

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for TOEFL?

Yes. Ask any topic from the TOEFL syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Integrated tasks ask you to read, listen and then speak or write, so practise note-taking that captures the lecture's response to the reading.

Can I use my own TOEFL past papers and notes?

Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. Test Lab adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.

Does it teach in the language I study TOEFL in?

LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English, Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
