The exam
What is Bank PO?
Bank PO is the Bank Probationary Officer Examinations (IBPS PO and SBI PO), a professional exam (India). Recruitment runs through a preliminary objective test in English, quantitative aptitude and reasoning, a main examination that adds data interpretation, banking and economic awareness and computer aptitude, and a descriptive paper of letter and essay writing. Both objective stages carry negative marking and sectional time limits. A final interview, with a group exercise in some banks, completes the selection, and the main examination score carries the most weight.
Who takes it: Graduates applying for probationary officer posts in public sector banks through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or the State Bank of India.

How to prepare
Studying for Bank PO, step by step
01
Prioritise
Speed matters most at the preliminary stage, so practise simplification, series and puzzles until you can clear a section comfortably within its time.
02
Practise
Banking awareness questions come from recent policy and financial news, so follow a monthly current-affairs digest from the start.
03
Avoid the traps
Do not ignore descriptive writing; a well-structured letter and essay are easy marks that many candidates leave unprepared.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.
