Learn Chemical Engineering with a visual teacher

Ask "How does a distillation column separate two liquids?" and a 1:1 AI teacher plans the lesson, explains it out loud while it visualizes each step, and checks you got it, in 26 languages.

The subject

What is Chemical Engineering?

Chemical Engineering is the study of turning raw materials into useful products safely and efficiently at scale, from fuels and fertilisers to medicines and food. Studying it means learning material and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering, separation processes and process control. It joins chemistry with physics, mathematics and economics, and it leads to work in energy, pharmaceuticals, materials and environmental engineering.

Where it is studied: Undergraduate chemical engineering degrees, polytechnic diplomas in chemical technology and postgraduate entrance examinations.

Why pictures

Why Chemical Engineering is taught visually

Processes are flowsheets: a block diagram with streams in and out for a mass balance, a heat exchanger with temperature profiles, a distillation column with its stages on a McCabe-Thiele diagram, a reactor with concentration against time, a pump curve. Drawing the streams makes a balance a bookkeeping task.

The tutor draws the picture as it speaks, one idea at a time, and answers your doubt on the same picture when you interrupt.

Each lesson is pitched to the curriculum you follow, and you can upload past papers so the practice matches the exam.

Ask it anything

Questions learners ask in Chemical Engineering

  • How do I set up a mass balance for a recycle stream?
  • Why does a counter-current heat exchanger transfer more heat than co-current?
  • What does the McCabe-Thiele method actually find?

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can an AI visual teacher draw flowsheets and balances with me?

Yes. It draws the units and streams, labels each flow and writes the balance equations beside the diagram while explaining aloud. Interrupt to ask why a stream is included and it answers on the same flowsheet.

Does it explain the underlying chemistry and physics too?

It does. Ask why a separation works or what drives a reaction and the tutor draws the mechanism, from vapour-liquid equilibrium curves to rate expressions. Ask for a different explanation whenever one route does not help.

How do I practise for engineering exams in this subject?

Upload past papers and notes as PDFs or images and the tutor teaches from them in your chosen language. Test Lab offers server-graded tests from a question bank and AI-made tests, and verified courses provide structured sequences.
