Prepare for IChO with a visual teacher
International Chemistry Olympiad: every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.
The exam
What is IChO?
IChO is the International Chemistry Olympiad, an olympiad exam (Worldwide). An annual competition with a theoretical examination of multi-part problems and a practical examination in a laboratory, where contestants carry out synthesis, analysis or measurement tasks. A preparatory problem set is published in advance to indicate the topics beyond standard school chemistry. Grading rewards quantitative reasoning, mechanism understanding and precise laboratory technique. National selection stages, such as India's NSEC and INChO or the United States' USNCO, lead to a training camp.
Who takes it: Secondary school students selected through national chemistry olympiads, who compete in theoretical and laboratory chemistry at a level beyond the school syllabus.
What it tests
IChO subjects and sections
- Physical chemistry
- Organic chemistry
- Inorganic chemistry
- Analytical chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Laboratory practical
Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.
How to prepare
Studying for IChO, step by step
01
Prioritise
Study the preparatory problems published for the year; they define the advanced topics that will appear beyond ordinary school chemistry.
02
Practise
Organic mechanisms and physical chemistry calculations recur, so practise drawing full mechanisms and working through thermodynamics and kinetics numerically.
03
Avoid the traps
Laboratory practice with titrations, synthesis and careful recording matters; the practical examination rewards accuracy and safe technique throughout.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.
Ask it anything
Questions IChO students ask
- Explain the mechanism of an aldol condensation step by step.
- Teach me equilibrium calculations with activity coefficients.
- How do I plan a titration for the practical exam?

Questions
Asked, Answered
Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for IChO?
Yes. Ask any topic from the IChO syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Study the preparatory problems published for the year; they define the advanced topics that will appear beyond ordinary school chemistry.
Can I use my own IChO past papers and notes?
Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. Test Lab adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.
Does it teach in the language I study IChO in?
LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English, Hindi, Mandarin and Russian) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
