The exam
What is ICSE?
ICSE is the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, a school board exam (India and CISCE-affiliated schools abroad). Subjects are arranged in groups: a compulsory group with English, a second language and History, Civics and Geography; a second group from which students pick subjects such as Mathematics, Science or Economics; and a third group of applied subjects such as Computer Applications or Art. Each subject combines an external written paper with school-based internal assessment. Papers favour detailed, well-structured written answers and precise language.
Who takes it: Students at the end of Class 10 in schools affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, who then progress to ISC or other boards.

How to prepare
Studying for ICSE, step by step
01
Prioritise
English carries real weight here, so practise composition, comprehension and the prescribed literature texts with the same seriousness as Mathematics.
02
Practise
The syllabus is broad and detailed, so revise with chapter-wise notes from the start rather than cramming thick textbooks in the final months.
03
Avoid the traps
Past papers show the exact phrasing the board likes; answer with definitions, labelled diagrams and examples, keeping to the marks allotted.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.

Questions
Asked, Answered
Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for ICSE?
Yes. Ask any topic from the ICSE syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. English carries real weight here, so practise composition, comprehension and the prescribed literature texts with the same seriousness as Mathematics.
Can I use my own ICSE past papers and notes?
Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. Test Lab adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.
Does it teach in the language I study ICSE in?
LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English and Hindi) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
