The exam

What is O Levels?

O Levels is the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (and Cambridge O Level), a school board exam (Singapore, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other Commonwealth countries). In Singapore the examination is run jointly by the Ministry of Education and Cambridge, while Cambridge O Level is taken through schools and private centres elsewhere. Each subject is assessed through written papers, with practical tests in sciences and oral or listening components in languages. Papers blend short structured questions with longer problems and essays. Results determine entry to junior colleges, polytechnics and other pre-university routes.

Who takes it: Secondary school students in Singapore, and in Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries where Cambridge O Levels are offered, completing their secondary qualification before pre-university study.

How to prepare

Studying for O Levels, step by step

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Additional Mathematics is the gateway to science and engineering tracks; drill algebra and trigonometry manipulation early, because later chapters assume fluency.

  2. 02

    Practise

Science practical papers test technique and data recording, so rehearse the standard experiments and the way results should be tabulated and plotted.

  3. 03

    Avoid the traps

Ten-year series books work only if you time yourself and mark honestly against the scheme, rather than reading worked answers.

  4. 04

    Ask, then watch

Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.

  5. 05

    Interrupt and check

Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.

  6. 06

    Your papers

Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.

Ask it anything

Questions O Levels students ask

  • Explain how to sketch quadratic graphs for Additional Mathematics.
  • Teach me the key chemistry mole calculations step by step.
  • How do I write a strong argumentative essay in English?

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for O Levels?

Yes. Ask any topic from the O Levels syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Additional Mathematics is the gateway to science and engineering tracks; drill algebra and trigonometry manipulation early, because later chapters assume fluency.

Can I use my own O Levels past papers and notes?

Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. Test Lab adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.

Does it teach in the language I study O Levels in?

LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English, Mandarin, Tamil and Bengali) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
