Tamil textbooks use purist Tamil coinages for science, such as 'ஒளிச்சேர்க்கை' for photosynthesis and 'மின்னணுவியல்' for electronics, and Sri Lankan Tamil-medium terms sometimes differ from Tamil Nadu usage.
