The exam
What is PSLE?
PSLE is the Primary School Leaving Examination, a school board exam (Singapore). A national examination at the end of primary school, set by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board. Each subject is assessed through written papers, with oral and listening components in languages. Mathematics and Science emphasise problem solving and application rather than recall, and model drawing is a widely taught method. Results are reported as achievement levels, which are combined to guide posting to secondary schools and subject levels.
Who takes it: Pupils at the end of primary school in Singapore, whose results are used to place them in secondary schools and subject bands.
What it tests
PSLE subjects and sections
- English Language
- Mother Tongue Language
- Mathematics
- Science
Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.
How to prepare
Studying for PSLE, step by step
01
Prioritise
Mathematics problem sums are the main differentiator; teach the child to draw a model or diagram before computing anything.
02
Practise
Science answers are marked for keywords and precise explanations, so practise writing cause-and-effect sentences with the exact terms taught.
03
Avoid the traps
Build reading stamina and vocabulary through daily reading for both English and the mother tongue; comprehension carries heavy weight.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Test Lab for graded tests.
Ask it anything

Questions
Asked, Answered
Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for PSLE?
Yes. Ask any topic from the PSLE syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Mathematics problem sums are the main differentiator; teach the child to draw a model or diagram before computing anything.
Can I use my own PSLE past papers and notes?
Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. Test Lab adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.
Does it teach in the language I study PSLE in?
LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English, Mandarin and Tamil) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
